But I think the worst thing of it all is that she lives in a dogman world. She will see him on the news, on the streets, everywhere and she can't escape it till she leaves the state. A constant reminder of the old life she could had have and was taken away from her too soon.

You know…this makes me wonder if there is a Graves estate. Like the Arthur Conan Doyle estate?

We know that Skully traveled the world and became The King of Halloween but surely he has some descendants (the twink probably grew up and got married— somehow.) I’m pretty sure that he wouldn’t have the rights to Halloween or anything but maybe they are like…historians??? Idk

I don't think there'd be an estate per say since Skully didn't "own" Halloween. Halloween was already a concept celebrated in his small town. Skully is only responsible for popularizing Halloween to the rest of Twisted Wonderland and many modern traditions. Not sure if doing this would really be a good way of generating wealth for himself either, I think he was just in it for the good vibes.

What's very odd to me is that no one in modern Twisted Wonderland seems to know who Skully is??? He wanted to keep out of the spotlight, but you'd think he would still be well-documented and lauded as an important figure for THE biggest holiday in their world. None of the NRC students recognized this important guy when they were all sucked into the book together?????? So his name and face were completely concealed from history (I guess it was easier for stuff to be lost without phones, cameras, etc.), but his legacy still remains. If he has descendants, I wonder if they know anything about their roots... Oral history is always there.

I did see a theory floating around that Crowley covered up Skully's existence and altered history?? In the event, Skully nearly overblots and is only stopped from the brink by Sebek. The theory goes that the book is a record of actual events (except, in real life, our NRC students were other people that got caught up with Skully), with the key difference being the lack of a happy ending... in which Skully OBs and ended up killing people and causing a lot of collateral damage until he was finally subdued. The theory then continues to say that Crowley didn't want to risk his or the school's reputation faltering (since Skully was a student at the time), so he worked tirelessly to conceal the incident and Skully himself from history. (But then this doesn’t really make sense because Crowley himself says he is proud of Skully.)

I guess if Skully didn’t want to be in the spotlight, there wouldn’t be an estate…? Cuz that’s a physical reminder of him.

Shadow High series 3 my new beloved

-i like to pretend Rainbow High/Shadow High are actually Rainbow University/Shadow University cuz im in art college Right Now and i think it makes more sense with the whole dorm room situation. And also major makes more sense than focus IMO

-I changed Pinkie's major from film to just undeclared. I think she eventually does land on Film. She just has a lot of interests! Her dream has always been to one day direct films, and I think she comes to love them even more while developing ideas her with the group as she winds up in a Director/Producer position for most of them. BUT also every time she takes a class in a different program she cant help but fall in love with that way of making art too. So she has a hard time picking for a while and changed her major a couple times before landing on Film.

-Pinkie and Berrie bond a lot over a shared interest in vocal synths (tho Berrie knows more about them than her).

-The two made Pinkie's vtuber model together!

-the fandom wiki says PJ is from germany?? Idk how canon that is tbh but ive decided to embrace it i guess

-Rooney's canon name is Scarlet Rose, but i thought it was kinda lame especially when Rosie Redwood is also in this line sooo I renamed her! Stuck to the color name puns tho. Mar Rooney. Maroon. Haha

-Speaking on her though i love that shes from texas and likes writing scifi mystery type stuff and that being said i just Know deep in my bones that she was a Voltron Legendary Defender fan and Keith was/is 100% her favorite. She has a continued fondness for mothman specifically cuz of this.

-PJ and Rooney actually talk about fandom and shows/movies ALL the time. They dont have a ton of overlapping interests, but where they do? The two literally never shut up.

-Rosie is such a random character, like outside of her design she feels very poorly considered. So I scrapped the cosmetology thing and made her an illustrator instead! I think it works better with her love of making art in nature. I can see her being really into illustrated guide books. I think shes a bit snooty when it comes to art too. It takes being friends with other artists to become more open minded.

-I like the idea that Rosie is mainly friends with Rooney and Berrie ontop of that. The three of them often tag team storylines and how theyd interpret them into different mediums. Rosie will draw up a bunch of concept stuff while Rooney writes up a pitch bible and Berrie will start making shit move and throwing in her own ideas on camera angles and character designs.

-as an animation major Berrie was required to take a sound design class early on, which is where she met Oliver! Hes very laid back, and likes to go with the flow, but functions a little like the "mom" of the group. Often reminding the girls to take breaks, drink water, stop looking at their screens lest they get eye strain etc. He's multi-talented tbh but Music is his one true passion and he likes how the girls are always giving him collaboration opportunities.

-Oliver and Rosie like to talk sports a lot, both having played a bunch when they were younger and throughout high school.

-Lavender Lynn is Oliver's number one "person who needs constant reminders to settle down" she is in a constant buzz of trying to get the best shots and is utterly obsessed with the process of artistic documentation. Everything must be documented.

-the whole school loves her for this actually, she has a whole side gig where other students hire her to help photograph their projects. She saves everything she earns from this for her future dream plans to visit paris. She has it set really, many of the artists who she helps photograph now will remain steadfast clients of hers forever onward.

-PJ and Lynn actually took a print media class together at one point. Which didnt at the time spark an everlasting friendship. But it did give PJ an easier in to ask for Lynn's help documenting a project the group was working on. One of Lynn's first times photographing them work happened to fall on a day where Rosie had planned to trick everyone into going on a nature walk sans devices... Lynn wound up really appreciating this outing and decided to continue hanging around the group even after that project had ended.

a/n: ok so ngl i find it kind of hard to write for matty because he is such a complex guy even as a character that I’m afraid of mischaracterizing him or not doing his likeness justice—which I def don’t wanna do? also my biggest fear is that trumanblackblog will stumble upon it. but alas twitter oomfs have been circulating wonderful images of grey haired matty which have really gotten me in my feels so here r some little things I’ve been thinking about!

i literally cannot stress this enough matty is so fucking sentimental. he has a tattoo for u and it's of the first time u ever brought home a drawing of your little duo of a family home from school. Or maybe another one somewhere else of a little flower u doodled on his arm when he fell asleep during a movie.

he overthinks a lot. wonders how he managed to get such an amazing kid. if he deserves you. cries about u growing up. his heart hurts everytime he realizes you've grown an inch or something. it takes all the strength in his body for him not to cry in front of your date when he sees you in your prom dress, for example. he was all waterworks at your graduation.

ik atpoaim has implanted itself in this fandoms brains and mine too so yes they totally build forts.

when he's going through his addiction you're often the first to tip others off—to denise or george when babysitting, just offhand mentioning that "daddy wasn't well yesterday." him being rehab was really really hard for you—even harder when it didn't work—you didn't really understand the concept but you knew at least he was trying to be better. you sent him tons of letters. he kept all of them, like he keeps everything. it's comforting to him, in sort of a selfish way, to know that he has at least one person in his corner who'll love him no matter how hard he is to love sometimes; regardless of the stupid shit he says or does. it pushes him to always try and do right by you.

your uncles are your best friends, obviously. george is your godfather, and was third in line to hold you after you were born. ross takes u to rugby games which you don't really understand but enjoy anyways cuz he always lets you have candy from concessions and tells you when to cheer. adam is grounding, he got you your first guitar and was always a sound source of advice. when you get older u babysit for him and carly a lot.

you don't really remember your mother—she'd been a part of the guys' adolescent friend group and had eventually grown to fall in love with matty. theirs had been a whirlwind of innocent, wild young love, but it terrified her to settle down, at just 20, a year matty's junior. it was for the best. she had her own issues, too. your dad and her just weren't good for each other, mutual enablers of vices that weren't healthy for a child to be around. she wasn't ready to be a mother. so she left, with but a letter and a locket you now kept safely at the bottom of your jewelry box. sometimes you stole peeks at her facebook, but never dared to reach out any further. your life with matty felt complete, small as it was.

I used to dislike blitzo back in season 1-early 2 cuz he was a jerk and abusive and the story tried to justify it with "womp womp he has trauma and he only wants to tough moxxie up so it's okay". And i was supposed to feel bad about his ass? After he verbally abused moxxie throughout all his work life and threteaned to rape him and his wife? Used verosika and stole from her when they where together? Disrespected barbie's boundaries and feelings? Dissmissed fizz's feelings and unintentionally said "hey i lost my mom bitch, you aren't the only one who has problems" WHEN FIZZ WAS FUCKING BURNED ALIVE, LOST HIS LIMBS AND HORNS AND WAS TRAUMATIZED FOR LIFE. ALL BECAUSE OF YOU I MIND YOU.

To be clear, i don't hate asshole characters. I hate when asshole characters are being coddled and excused by the narrative, it's insufferable to watch. Blitz was this. An asshole character who was excused by the writers and you are expected to feel bad about his ass when he got humilated in the club. Thanks i hate it. And it sucks because i love the concept of an abusive asshole realizing he is an abuser and trying to do better to people who he wronged. But i couldn't handle the awful execution.

Okay I've retyped this a couple times but about your matrillineality and comphet post! I think making them matrillineal could do four things: help family trees, emulate cats "better", deepen Clan culture, and allow for a version of comphet to exist.

Cats tend to disregard fathers in general, so it goes by their actual behavior to ignore it. Say they dont even know and then you dont have to include patrillineal family in trees whatsoever. Track exclusively by whoever gives birth, and have their culture shift to match many matrillinean cultures out there. Sisters of the queen are like second mothers to her kits, and brothers like fathers.

When it comes to the dramas around dads like Tigerclaw and Graystripe, attach some significance to who a cat is bonded with (bonded pairs in cats). Culturally speaking, a cats bonded pair would be very important, so maybe it's a traditional honor they mentor one of a queen's kittens, or maybe it's just the fact they'd be together so often, so the bond extends emotionally from cat to kitten. Obviously Gray and Tiger would miss them as much as they do their pair, as an extension of them.

But tbh when it comes to Tiger and bramble you could just say that he's perceived as a curse on the clan for having trusted tigerclaw, which is why he looks so much like him and comes from his former pair.

When it comes to comphet you could frame it as a social pressure to pair with a tom (especially one without sisters) because otherwise they don't get to have their own kittens. The opposite works to, where a tom is pressured by the desire for kittens to get with a queen.

Also, this would create slightly explicit gender roles, which could explain transness within the Clans more blatantly, too. Not to say girl = mom, but more so that there'd be different associations and expectations, for better or worse. Also just cuz i think its cute, i imagine there'd be fertility rituals in queens since that'd probably be how they frame it when they don't know how actual conception works.

as for normal cat behavior, honestly i'm not too worried about that, this is a gay rewrite of a book series about magical cats in the woods. however, i do think it would be interesting to focus on siblings of parents in a kit's life, because they are all actively right there, in the clan, almost all of the time. frequently they are not really involved at all with the kits, which doesn't feel realistic. i do want to strengthen the connection between moms and kits as well, especially because of how much the first arc relies on that, as well as customs like the queens not having to say who the father is.

bonded pairs are definitely something i still want to be important in the books, because i still want there to be romance and relationships and such, which is one of my big hesitations with just going ahead and making the clans matrilineal. if i did, then fathers would honestly just disappear or not matter for a lot of things, which i don't think i want. but it would be more interesting and just generally be a cool lens to look at things through, especially queer relationships and gender roles, as you mentioned.

having dads be mentors often would definitely be a cool way to have them be part of their kits' lives, but i think that honestly would put too many male cats as mentors and maybe not leave enough space for female mentors? but that might not be an issue if i have more gay cats and have lineage just be tracked through birthing mothers and not mothers in general. definitely something to give more thought to.

i do quite like the idea of bramblekit being seen as a curse from starclan after tigerclaw leaves thunderclan, which would give more basis to firestar not trusting him and goldenflower's defensiveness. not sure how that would translate to tawnypaw leaving or brambleclaw's whole thing with hawkfrost later (which i do have thoughts on. esp when it comes to him totally ignoring the fact that mothwing is his kin too. maybe they bond over being seen as ill omens about tigerstar, but that would mean that people know tigerstar is their father. things to think about...).

i do think that the setup for the clans would honestly more encourage amatonormativity (the assumption that a central, exclusive, romantic relationship is normal for humans, and is a universally shared goal - definition from aurea) because of the emphasis on kits and having kits for the clan, and that heteronormativity is more of a byproduct of that. honestly i think that this would lead to a lot more donor situations, or queens having kits with someone and then actually having a relationship later with someone else. a lot of cats would also grow up knowing they have to have kits at some point and just default to looking for attraction to the opposite gender, whether that's actually how they feel or not.

the other thing about the clan culture that's kind of connected to that is that you are surrounded by the same people, day in and day out, and the clans in general are quite gossipy. many, many times in the series, we see cats being asked or teased about someone they're interested in or perceived to be interested in, or someone who's interested in them, and there's a lot of pressure to reciprocate other cats' feelings. you also live in a place where it is very hard to get away from others who are pursuing you, or have a breakup and go back to living normal life, because they're still going to be right there. this would honestly put a lot of pressure on everyone to maintain toxic relationships and not explore their preferences or ideas.

would be kinda fun if part of the reason ravenpaw agreed to leave was because he was gay and didn't want to have kits with anyone. honestly i think it would be fun if all three of that crew had crushes on each other, just all at different times. firestar likes graystripe when he's off with silverstream (for maximum drama, obviously). graystripe and ravenpaw like each other when they're little kids together and maybe even play being mates but have grown out of it once they meet firepaw. ravenpaw likes firestar when he first comes to the forest and for a good chunk of them being apprentices together, and firestar is the most oblivious cat ever and does not notice. graystripe likes firestar when he's his deputy, and when he's so loyal he leaves riverclan for him. firestar doesn't so much have a crush of ravenpaw as see him catch an adder and goes "oh, that's attractive." anyway that was a tangent, back to what i was talking about before

gender roles are something i'm not quite sure how to approach, because the gender roles in the books are so incredibly informed by our human gender roles, and honestly the books are quite often misogynistic. the only really significant difference in a clan society, where almost everyone does the same job, is whether you can mother kits or not. i think that is really important in clan society and i want to have distinct gender roles that i can explore, but i also don't want to fall into the traps that the erins fall into over and over of relegating female characters to motherhood and caregiver roles only, and giving them nurturing personalities because the female cats are only there to be mothers. that shouldn't be the case, and i definitely am changing a lot of that, but i am not really sure how to go about it yet. we'll see.

basically, i found a really dope joystick enclosure thingy on a free 3D model thingy for 3D printing

so naturally i rhink to make a stick! i get the model, and i buy some components, and i make a cool dustwasher for the stick in adobe-free-photoshop-clone, and it SEEMS like ill make some headway.

but then i decide i wanna modify the model to make it into smaller puzzle pieces cuz my printer is p small, and then i notice the enclosure is under a licensing agreement so even if i make it how i want i cant recreate it and sell it on etsy if i want, and im SUPER a copyright abolitionist so i wanna make my OWN model

;w; and then im hit with the realization that freecad is hard to use and scary to my dumb babybrain and so is 3D printing itself cuz its a skill i dont know yet

and now im moved and all my components have yet to be sent up here and my printer isnt up here either

“the more you repeat your affirmations the more likely they will come” theres nothing to “do” or say that will bring me my desires since i am everything i already am my desires. the idea of “doing” anything to “get something” outside of me doesnt make sense when its all in me. affirmations can be used to “bring things to your awareness” but understand the affirmations themselves are STILL not bringing you anyway. just making you aware of things.

Okay I saw ur rant earlier on ur Instagram and lowkey this book sounds like trash, but it gave me a stupid idea that I might reflect on later and view as trash. Just hear me out on this AU.

So Henry Higgins is obviously a proud bachelor (and certified virgin), but one day he answers the door to see a random woman at his doorstep and she drops off this young boy at his house who she claims is his son. Apparently she says that had a one night stand 13 years back and he is the product of that hookup. Whether or not this is true, it doesn’t really matter cuz this boy apparently is headstrong in this belief that Henry is his father and he’s been eagerly awaiting the day he could meet him. He’s clearly not been raised in an affluent household but he’s also claimed to have studied his father’s work whenever he can and is clearly trying to put his best (albeit imperfect) posh accent possible.

Henry thinks this is stupid and doesn’t want to raise this boy, so he plans on shipping him off to boarding school, but Pickering convinces him to instead take the boy under his wing since he’s seems to have taught himself a thing or two about Linguistics, so he has potential. Also like, come on now, they can’t just abandon him like a dick. This boy holds and innocent and unconditional love for his supposed father and seems willing to learn whatever from him.

Henry reluctantly keeps the boy, and the rest of the story would follow Henry essentially taking on a new apprentice while also learning how to be an actually good parent and treat his son well. Pickering of course is the more level-headed guardian who naturally dares well with kids while he teaches Henry to eventually come around and show some appreciation to his son, even if his attempts at doing are awkward and prudish at first.

first of all, just to clarify, i am naturally a massive hater so my opinion’s 100% not god! the book is quite good in some respects. besides Henry Higgins’ Illegitimate Fucking Baby, i mostly DNFed it over its questionable handling of its trans character, and also the weird classist undertones and stereotypes that seemed to litter every other page. i’m sure it’s plenty of peoples’ cup of tea, just not mine!

JULY UPDATE

Hey hey hey! Welcome back to the show, “The Monthly Jayce Myles Comics Updates!” Where I give obvious monthly updates to my followers about the progress for the hit series that hasn’t debuted yet, “ROTTMNT: The Jayce Myles Comics”! Sorry I haven’t posted this month, I was hella busy with college applications and other projects, but I’m delighted to get back into these updates.

Without further ado, let’s get the show running! I have some fun things to show ya!!!

The Comic

The month was way too quick for my own good, the comic’s slow. Again, I was busy applying to college and doing other side projects I’m working on. I’m gonna be attending college next month so the comic will have its hardships but I really wanna pursue my education as well, but the updates shall continue like always with all of its fun content! Anyways, the comic: the debut has 20+ pages and my god it’s just insane on how many there are when I’m not even halfway there. I’m impressed with how many pages go by just to tell the story, older pages will be fixed up so it either might be reduced or even more but that’s for future Jae to decide; I’m learning as I go! It’s also better that I show instead of say that I’m just “working on it” since it’s easy to lie to be honest.

The turtles haven’t been seen since I haven’t got to drawing their introductions yet, I’m gonna shart in my pants because I’m scared but I’m literally an artist doing a comic so I gotta do them sooner than later. Maybe the next update you’ll see them? Don’t hold me too much onto that but it might be a cute goal to set, let me know what happened when the August update comes!

Jayce is so silly with her coat huh? She’s just a girl giving it her best, even if they thrift at the worst shop known to man (they’re gonna learn someday…) We also got Rogelio and Jayce being all cool together, I was proud of that page when first sketching it out. They both are so sweet to draw out, hope to see their finalized pages to see their true potential!

Bonus Content: Hidden City Mystical Crystals

Silly reader, you’re scratching your nose and thinking, “what am I looking at?” You’re in luck! Cuz these babies are actually additional parts about the Hidden City’s lore/magic system. Magic system? Yes, a magic system. The Jayce Myles Comics is going beyond the original canon of Rise and creating many more original concepts and combining it with what was given by the canon. I wanted to show off more of the mystics from yokai because their potential was so much cooler to finally explore when drafting the ideas.

The Hidden City’s magic system is based off of the elements, not too complicated, but has some different rules when compared to other executions of the elemental magic system. That’s for another day, I’m only gonna talk about the crystals and show what they can do. You can reference this update and look into the JMC with this cool bit of knowledge! Let’s get started >:3

Origins of the Mystical Crystals

These crystals were created based off of industrial flaws people have faced. Basically, I learned about the 1920s construction workers and their working conditions where it made me think “what would the have wished for when they worked?” I referenced from real people, history books, and my own personal experiences to create functions, and help base the crystals off of what I came up with.

The Netflix show, “Arcane” was a great inspiration to combine mystics with technology, the brand was called “Hextech” and it’s system was hella cool to me and it helped a lot when I was working on the crystal’s concepts. The mystical crystals are meant to be used as “tools to help the magic user”, where they can enhance their power, gain a temporary ability, create spells, or use in technology.

The names of them are based off of the Latin languages like, English, Italian, Spanish, and a hint of both Chinese and Korean if you squint really hard. I will go through each of the crystals in a vague manner for ya’ll to see what they can do!

Fire Magic

Fire magic is actually defined as: “The manipulation/manifestation of temperature” instead of just heat, it can be fire or ice.

LA HEILMAQ: The crystal is based off of quartz in visuals and has the glow like a moonstone! La Heilmaq is the crystal that’s used to help air conditioning in modern homes and create weapons. They’re the most natural crystal to use to create weapons since it’s form holds up so well, it’s as common as bronze in real life! They’re pretty cold to the touch, so be careful and don’t hold them for too long if you’re 1. not a fire magic user, or 2. not wearing gloves. These babies are used for more attacks than defense since they’re pretty deadly if you’ve been penetrated by the crystal itself.

EL HEILMAQ: This crystal is based off of colored glass from old alcohol bottles, tainted windows, and the power of friendship because this is the one that isn’t the most realistic looking since I made the shape up. It looks like the “BOOM!” shape for a reason~ El Heilmaq is the crystal which contains heat, it’s sealed by the actual gemstone itself so you’re able to touch with your bare hands without getting burned. The crystal can be used for restoring heat in homes, making artillery, and/or throwing them on the ground to create natural firecrackers. Most yokai use smaller bits of the crystal as distractions and the bigger pieces to help the industry by keeping their homes warm, they don’t need boiler rooms or to grab coal because El Heilmaq crystals can already do that for them without causing damage to nature.

The word Heilmaq was based off the English word “Hail” which is Ice, which is to hammer the idea that this isn’t just heat based. The word Maq is gibberish that's made to be another word for "kaboom", which brings more of the fire elements to the word itself.

Air Magic

Air magic is defined as, “The manipulation/manifestation of oxygen”!

LA SENYÁR: The crystal is based off of diamonds and emeralds! La Senyár is a crystal that helps give the air magic user more of a boost, they can crash the crystal and it gives them a boost of air so they can jump higher, dodge quicker, or just blow a gust of wind at the enemy. The crystal itself is used by technology to give it more flight, used in planes, cars, and even shoes! Yes, shoes can also have the crystal, it helps the bird yokai give them a boost to use their wings to fly. The word Senyár is a word based off of the Spanish word, “Soñar” that translates to “To Dream”; it was named this way because the way how the pressure of the air isn’t as powerful or dense, it’s like if you’re walking on clouds, it feels like a dream.

Water Magic

Water magic is defined as, “The manipulation/manifestation of water and health”

LA CANTÉM: The crystal is based off of pebbles found in rivers, ponds, and on rock beaches; there’s also influence by the topaz gemstone with it’s beautiful orange color. La Cantém is a healing crystal, where you’re able to use it on yourself to cool down injuries where it helps heal the wounds. It works both as a numbing solution and healing solution based on the water magic user. With these crystals, you always have to hydrate them in fresh water so the water can absorb into the crystal and used as energy; if it’s dehydrated, then the crystal’s will be weaker. The word Cantém is based off of the Spanish word, “Cantar” where it translates to, “To Sing”. It’s because singing can calm people down, and the crystal helps calm down the injured and lets the healing process go smoothly, it’s based off of my bestie where their singing really was like fresh water to my ears, a great inspiration for this crystal.

Earth Magic

Earth magic is defined as, “The manipulation/manifestation of nature”

EL TERÉM: The crystal is based off of an amethyst visually, and yes, inside there’s a different color! El Terém is the crystal that most fighters use in order to manipulate rocks/boulders, build stronger architecture, or create rock shields when you throw them on the floor. It’s mostly rock based but still hella good to use in battle as a defense mechanism, the rock that’s formed is sturdy too, not weak for it to break easily. Shredder would have no problems breaking it but that guy’s insane. The word Terém is inspired by the word "tear" or "contain", any interpretation rocks! (no pun intended)

Yin Magic

Yin magic is defined as, “The manipulation/manifestation of darkness”

MIE SIÑE: The crystal is based off of titanium black tourmaline and onyx. Mie Siñe is the crystal that contains shadows inside, depending on what the spell is, it either can produce shadows or fog. The usage for the crystal is much more unknown since Yin magic is banned from being used in Witchtown, but the crystal itself has been documented to be used to isolate the enemy when being used. It's also been used to cover the enemies eyes with darkness in order to distract them/become vulnerable sight wise. The word Siñe is a word based on the actual word "Sign" and "Sin", which holds a lot of significance into the story so I won't spoil.

Yang Magic

Yang magic is defined as, “The manipulation/manifestation of light”

MIE PIRE: This dear crystal is based off of the Italian onyx, magnesite, and calcite. Mie Pire is the crystal that contains light inside, any kind of light, it's not just sunlight. It's a bit more tricky and dangerous to use since you can blind yourself with it more easily, so it's also not as used. However, Yang magic is also banned like Yin, but there has still been technological uses for Mie Pire like using it as an alternative for electricity (which saves the bills!) and also used as lamps for more conservative places like Witchtown. The crystal has proved itself useful as a light source, but it can still be used as a defense mechanism by blinding the enemies eyes for a good second of even minute. The word Pire is based off of the word "Pure" which means that this crystal is very raw hence why it's dangerous. Another word it's inspired by is the Latin word "Pyra" which means "Bonfire". Both interpretations are used for this one!

The word Mie is based off of the actual Italian word "Mie" which means "My". It doesn't truly mean mine, because it's also inspired by the Spanish "Mira" that translates to "Look". It can be interpreted any way you want!

Thank you for coming to this lovely update! I've been working really hard to get the comic rolling and to also balance out my personal life with it, but I'm proud of how far I've come in the span of a year! Day Fourteen Day Fifteen Day Sixteen

im SOOOOO SORRY that I left you guys hanging those two days! *cries* the first one I genuinely forget, and the second I was too busy to do it- and I think that this is not the first time this might happen, since the farm (oh yeah, if you're not one of my regular followers, you should know I'm a farmhand lol) is picking up steam, during my down time Im trying to do more physical rest for my body to recover. which means unfortuantely, Ive been spending less time on here in general, and that my longer posts that take more time to write have had to pause for a while.

so, I'm sorry to say but this is the last day i'll be able to do this for a while, but maybe forever. I've had so much fun with it and loved to see everybody's different answers, and how we've all connected!! but for at least a few days/weeks, I need a bit of a break lol. if anyone wants to pick up this game again, with the same list of people I've given already or different ones, you are more than welcome to! and I'm not leaving Tumblr, I'm just not going to do this particular ask game anymore.

ok, actual question: our final question: what is something that you you want in your life, and what can you do to achieve it? what steps do you need to take to earn the life you see yourself living?

To be honest, this question has haunted me for the past...well since before high school. (has it really been almost 10 years since I was a baby highschool freshman?). To be also perfectly honest, my depression and anxiety were so bad I was never convinced I would make it as far as I did... which allowed me to put off answering the question for a long while until the Hour of College Applications approached.

Well, against all previous conceptions of my future, I am still alive and about to graduate in December (literally how) and set to walk across the beautiful stage in May to get my undergrad diploma with some kind of academic honors (I forget the Latin for it). Definitely not the highest GPA, but I am relatively proud of myself considering the effort and, for lack of a better phrase, blood, sweat, and tears that have gone into this. So, steps that need to happen in order to graduate

Pass classes (Preferably with A's but I'm also in a position where hopefully my self-esteem won't die with a B or 2).

Write and Finish my thesis (shaking crying throwing up I don't have enough capacity for this even if it's only 15 pages in Spanish)

Study and hopefully pass a GRE (graduate school readiness exam I think? 'cuz I'm told it's a good idea for master's school applications I can not stress enough how much I hate standardized tests and am so anxious about this that I haven't even opened my books yet, I've just been throwing myself into thesis research instead; I 'know not all schools require this but I'm going into something that's not my major, so I feel some kind of need to prove myself).

Apply to graduate schools for counseling!

Only four things... it shouldn't be so bad.... one would think... (can I please just skip to the part where this is over why do people call college the best years of my life).

The other thing I want to work on is just being a better person and in particular a better friend. My goal is therapy, particularly pediatric therapy because it's such a neglected area where I'm from and also in general I think because there tends to be stereotypes of "oh children can't have mental health problems." but doing that means I want to develop more compassion, friendliness, and patience and gentleness and actual listening skills while being assertive...yk an environment that nurtures personal and other's growth. Which is really hard. Progress has been made but still more to go.

I'm trying to figure out how to put into words something that's been bothering me with this event. 'Cuz while I like the concept, and there are some fun bits, in practice it is really not working for me. Setting aside all of the story arcs/relationships that have been put on pause for this event, I do think medium, once again, is at the crux of the problem. If this were a book or TV series, I would probably be way more into the Purgatory arc, but because it's a video game RP, a lot of the story beats that should work wind up falling flat for me.

It's a game, after all. And you hear that over and over again. "Don't get mad at X team; they're playing by the rules of the game." "That's just the game." "They're just playing the game."

But it's not just the characters playing the game, but the streamers also, which further blurs an already thin line between fiction and reality.

The game in the context of the lore is meant to be unfair and cruel. It's meant to push the players to doing bad things to their friends. It's meant to make them suffer. And while the streamers are not suffering as much as their characters, there's still a lot here that makes this game not all that fun. The weird balancing is an obvious one (and also an unenviable task. How do you balance a long-term competitive event between skill level, playstyle, and server activity?)

But the real problem I have is the uncertain rules. For a game to be fun, everyone involved must be on the same page regarding the rules, at least in my opinion. And by design, this Purgatory game obfuscates it rules. It tells the players up front what the rules are, but due to RP considerations, those rules are constantly in doubt. If they damage the egg statues as told, will that have an impact on their actual children? Will completely killing the egg statues kill their children, even though the rules of the game reward it? Will refusing to play along be the thing to hurt the children? Will keeping Blue and Green's scores equal break the game and prevent anyone from dying? Or will their disobedience cause everyone to die? Are they supposed to play the game or aren't they? How much of the game are they supposed to play? And if they are punished for playing and punished for not playing, then what is the point?

Most of the qsmp streams I watch these days are dedicated to game elements with significantly less time than usual devoted to the lore, so most of my watch time is spent seeing the streamers suffer through an intentionally unfun and stressful game, where victories by the game's definition seem posed to backfire and become failures by the rules of the story. The gameplay and the story are working against each other and it's all very stressful, especially as someone who is not all that into competitive events.

Still, if my team works hard and wins an event, I want to be able to cheer for them. I don't want to have to immediately go, "Well, they won, but there's a chance that, in doing so, they've perma-killed some of my favorite characters. Then again, would the admins REALLY do something like that? Better not get too happy, just in case."

It's a lot.

HOFAS Spoilers: What I Liked vs What I Didn't

Disclaimer: I just need someone to process this with. Usually, I enjoy my entertainment quietly and don't feel the need to make public posts but I need someone to process this book with lol. Anything you disagree with me about is 100% okay!!! I'm not one to argue or put down opinions in fandoms. I'm just curious if anyone else is sharing similiar feelings as me.

What I Did Enjoy:

Bryce flicking peas down to the beasts below her holding cell. It was so on brand of her and funny to me.

Bryce having to explain what a cell phone was.

Nesta and Azriel's friendship. I know this is a CC book and I won't dwell too much on the ACOTAR crossover. However, Nesta and Azriel's friendship has always been one of my favorites and there were sooo many cute moments between them. That hug after she uses the mask??? That hug and him stroking her hair broke something in me then hit the repair button.

Bryce really snatched Az's favorite kitchen knife and jumped in a crystal coffin back home. Iconic.

Hunt, Baxian and Ruhn holding onto their brotherhood in the dungeons through humor. Trying to keep one another from breaking. Acknowledging one another in the darkest of times they endured together. They really tried so hard to keep each other from losing all hope.

Confirmation that Lidia is related to Aelin. I sobbed. I already expected it but when I got to that chapter of the book I started sobbing uncontrolllably. Aelin would be so proud of Lidia for working to bring the Asteri down by any means necessary and protecting who she loves and cares for so deeply.

I really liked Flynn this book!!! I saw a side of him that I did not get to see much of in HOEAB or HOSAB. Flynn was really considerate, protective, and remained mindful of circumstances and adapted to them.

Dec deserves several awards for his hacking skills.

JESIBA 😭 Jesiba and her love for Bryce and her respect and just - I cried so much because Jesiba always knew what Bryce needed. She was tough love and really kept Bryce moving forward after Danika died. So for Jesiba to step up and finally be at peace while also saving Bryce was so emotional to me.

Ruhn and Lidia finally having that beer together.

What I Did Not Enjoy:

Tharion's entire storyline irritated me. I'm sorry to Tharion fans but I just could not find it in myself to connect to his storyline in this book. His inability to make a decision and face the consequences had me grinding my teeth especially if his actions put other people in danger.

Bryce vs Nesta and Azriel. While I love all three of these characters, I did not love all of them together when it became very apparent nothing good was coming from their meeting. Both sides were valid in not fully trusting one another but it really felt as though Bryce was written as the excuse to expose Az and Nesta to new information. Like it all felt very strange.

Ithan and Sigrid. Why introduce Sigrid at all only for her to be killed so quickly??? She was built up to be this key role that would change everything for the wolf shifters but ends up dead by the end of Part 1. Also Ithan didn't truly have a well rounded character arc to me. It was very much: Ithan makes poorly thought out choice. Ithan doesn't like the outcome. Ithan feels heavy guilt. Ithan tries to fix it. Ithan makes a larger mess. Ithan makes poorly thought out choice - like it was the same loop until somehow he is the new Prime ????? How is he going to make wise choices and assert leadership over an entire pack when he can't even do so for himself.

Bryce dismissing Hunt's trauma. I understand a lot was going on and she needed him focused but like Hunt, Baxian and Ruhn were put through a lot of pain. The physical torture was brutal. The mental exhaustion of trying not to let your mind shatter from such torment had to be hard. Trying to keep your emotions from getting the best of you. And yet Bryce wanted him to just move on and do what she needed asap. She could have at least told him that she knows he is hurting and she wants to provide her support and proper attention when they are in the right circumstances that she can offer it. When they aren't being chased down or fighting enemies or surrounded by their friends.

Everyone moving on way too quickly from Hunt, Baxian and Ruhn being in those dungeons. They siffered a lot and everyone moved on so fast as if they weren't carrying some heavy shit on their shoulders and in their thoughts.

Characters thinking about sex so often amongst all the stress, battle, and life altering decision making. Like ? We are in a very important part of this journey. A huge battle is on the rise and lives are at risks and somehow all of you are thinking this much about being with your partners? That is so unrealistic. There is a time and place for that type of intimacy and connection with your special person and SJM wrote those moments in the strangest circumstances and places that it became annoying.

Bryce and her attitude toward the Fae. I was very disappointed im the way Bryce generalized all of the Fae and was considering not doing anything for them after defeating the Asteri. It took away from some of her potential character growth and as much as she hates the Fae she is half Fae herself and there are others like her who need someone in their corner. Her whole conversation with Flynn's sister where she goes on and on about how awful Fae are and they don't deserve to be united really turned me off. I know Bryce had terrible experiences but to generalize everyone because of those experiences and consider doing nothing when she could start the chain reaction toward positive change for the Fae who want to do better and be better was a turn off. I found myself not liking her a lot through the story which is sad cuz I liked Bryce in the previous 2 books so much but in HOFAS she kept disappointing me with some of her thoughts and emotions. It was like she was stunting her own character growth.

Lidia having kids. Why? Why does everyone need children? I don't say that hatefully either! Personally, I love children and I also support anyone's choice to have kids or not to have kids. However, there was no real reason to throw in twins to Lidia's storyline. I don't see how that progresses the plot and it almost felt like writing that she is a mother is a security blanket to make others feel more comfortable with the choices she made when she was The Hind. I'll be so honest, if Lidia just flat out admitted she always intended to be a double agent or she just realized how bad the system was I would have accepted that. Having this plot twist of having twins had me tilting my head.

Did anyone else feel like Lidia became more withdrawn and started leaning into stereotypical traits? Am I the only one who felt like her character in HOFAS was vastly different than how we saw her as Daybright in HOSAB?

Autumn King. I didn't need him to have redemption but it is strange to have scattered a few hints in HOEAB and in HOSAB and even in HOFAS that perhaps the Autumn King cared about his kids at some level and that he had some regrets with Bryce and Ember only for him to be the absolute worst. Personally, just keep him a consistent villian. I already didn't like him for how he abused Ruhn and Bryce, but there were small moments where SJM had me thinking: ... maybe this is an act? Maybe he cares and thinks he is preparing them for the way they may be treated by enemies in the only way he knows how? No! Nope! He was just as awful as I initially thought.

Tharion's marriage. Sooooooo out of nowhere. I couldn't even root for them because the whole time I was thinking about how Tharion had the River Queen, Ocean Queen and Viper Queen all wanting his ass handed to them on a silver tray, fins and all. Like ??? And you just married this girl without considering your enemies might hear the news and snatch her up as a way to play on your guilt, hero complex, and impulse. Like I'll root for this couple when Tharion is less foolish.
